ShoZu - Nifty Little Service Works Well With Japanese Phones

Image

OK. This isn’t NEW news, but it is neat little service which has made me happy over the past week. I’ve been playing around lately with Zooomr (rather deeply) and am really getting excited about the possibilities of it. The site, created by Japan-based Kristopher Tate, is evolving into something I really want to be a part of.. but in the meantime trying to fit together into the rest of my online world. The part which doesn’t really seem to fit is uploading photos from my Japanese phone (keitai) to ALL OF THE ONLINE SERVICES I want my PUBLIC pictures to appear. My solution came with the well established product ShoZu .

ShoZu initially started as a download client for mobile phones which allows you to upload photos or videos to multiple services such as Flickr or Photobucket AT THE SAME TIME. When I read “mobile client”, the story usually ends there. Those two words mean “won’t work with your phone in Japan”. In other words, of no use to me. What I was pleasantly surprised to learn recently was how the service works THROUGH E-MAIL. Now THAT would work with almost ANY mobile phone ANYWHERE in the world. After setting up the client, I not only was able to upload the same photo from my camera phone to Zooomr and Flickr, but was also able to extend the same shot with the same upload to Photobucket, Utterz, Kyte.tv and Facebook .. not to mention I could also send the same shots to phones or e-mail addresses of anyone else in the world WITH THE SAME UPLOAD. Very time saving and very impressive.

To set up ShoZu on your phone, all you need to is send an e-mail from your device to go@shozu.com and the account will start the procedure to authenticate your phone. After that, anytime you send a picture or video to the same address, ShoZu will do the rest of the work to get the items uploaded to the right place on your behalf. Nifty.

Yes, if you’re a regular user of ShoZu in North America and Europe, I know how much you love the service and how much MORE you can do with the client. For those without the phone or data plans to make this possible, this one little feature brings the rest of us into the fold. I like that.
